This position operates diagnostic imaging equipment to obtain quality digital images of designated body portions for interpretation by physicians. The role involves confirming patient identity, checking in patients, scheduling appointments, and creating Radiology Modules. The technologist will greet and escort patients, interpret patient histories and physician instructions, and prepare patients for procedures using aseptic and sterile techniques. Key responsibilities include positioning patients, selecting exposure factors, processing images, and practicing radiation protection. The role may also involve operating diagnostic bone density equipment, recording pertinent information, and entering orders into the electronic medical record. Additionally, the technologist will respond to patient emergencies, maintain a clean work area, perform equipment maintenance, manage images within PACS and NextGen systems, and document patient information accurately. Check-out duties include ensuring patient encounter forms are completed thoroughly, sending letters and reminders, and serving as a liaison between patient and physician. The position requires maintaining compliance with government and reimburser requirements, clinic standards of care, and providing support to clerical and clinical staff as needed. This includes tasks such as answering phones, managing messages, completing medical records requests, and working the fax server/mail when supporting clerical staff. When supporting clinical staff, tasks will align with the Clinical Support Staff Scope of Practice. The technologist will perform other duties as assigned and work within the scope of their certification/registration/licensure.
