About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is a part-time position in the Orthopedics & Sports Medicine department, with clinic hours Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. The role involves an average of 3 shifts per week, scheduled on days of highest need. The Radiology Technologist will provide X-ray support for patients throughout their orthopedic visit, perform diagnostic X-rays, assist with efficient patient flow, and collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth clinic operations. The position requires performing diagnostic imaging examinations, operating equipment to produce quality images, ensuring accurate patient positioning, and adhering to radiation safety guidelines. The technologist will also deliver patient care and education, navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system, and perform additional duties as assigned. Depending on the facility, responsibilities may expand to include on-call rotations, mobile imaging, EKGs, cardiac monitor placement, DEXA procedures, and in Occupational Medicine clinics, routing testing, sampling, drug screens, breath alcohol testing, and audiograms.

Requirements

  • Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic radiographic principles, including radiographic positioning, film/image processing, quality control, and radiation protection is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
  • If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure with the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Board (NDMIRT) is required.
  • If working at some clinic locations, a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification may be required within the first eight weeks of hire into the position.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

Nice To Haves

  • If working in South Dakota, candidates must obtain their ARRT certification within 60 days of hire.
  • In the state of Iowa, all technologists must have a permit to practice through the Iowa Department of Public Health in order to practice in the state of Iowa.
  • Driver's license may be required, dependent upon department.

Responsibilities

  • Performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images.
  • Operates equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines; ensures the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes.
  • Ensures accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures; conducts image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors.
  • Implements radiation safety guidelines and conducts proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process.
  • Delivers excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Perform diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols.
  • May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
  • In Occupational Medicine clinics may have expanded job duties based on facility needs including preforming routing testing, and sampling and other technical services to support Occupational Medicine and Employee Health Services, including but not limited to, drug screens, breath alcohol testing and audiograms as well as administrative and/or clinical support.
