Operate x-ray equipment to perform digital x-rays as ordered by provider. Perform Dexa scans as ordered by provider. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure vital signs, weight and height. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, and information such as test results in medical records. Collect blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and providers’ instructions to patients. Help physicians examine and treat patients, hand them instruments and materials or perform such tasks as application of casts and splints and removing sutures. Prepare treatment rooms for examinations, keeping the room neat and clean. Clean instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Schedule appointments for patients. Contact medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests and/or admission or obtain medical records. Perform general office duties such as answering telephones, inventory and ordering medical, lab and office supplies and equipment. This is a busy Orthopedic/sports medicine practice with 4 full-time physicians.
