This role performs diagnostic imaging examinations on patients, ensuring the production of quality diagnostic images. The technologist operates equipment to produce diagnostic images according to patient cases and relevant guidelines, ensuring the quality of images is satisfactory for clinical purposes. The position requires accurate patient positioning during radiographic procedures and conducting image operations according to provider requests and other technical factors. It also involves implementing radiation safety guidelines and conducting proper radiation protection practices during the imaging process. The role emphasizes delivering excellent patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures, and requires the ability to understand and navigate the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned is also expected. Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on needs, to include on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Specific duties may include performing basic diagnostic radiology tasks, mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures. Occupational Medicine clinics may require additional duties such as routing testing, sampling, drug screens, breath alcohol testing, and audiograms.
