About The Position

Performs all diagnostic and interventional exams according to established policy and procedure for interpretation and subsequent evaluation and treatment by attending physician. This role involves assisting physicians in procedures, ensuring sterile technique, explaining exams to patients, operating imaging equipment, reviewing images for quality, and maintaining departmental standards. The technologist will also be responsible for patient transport, room preparation, supply management, and adhering to specific Ohio Department of Health regulations regarding radiation protection and licensing.

Requirements

  • 2 year/ Associates Degree in Radiology
  • ARRT Registered
  • Ohio Licensed Radiographer
  • BLS

  • Previous 6 months experience as a radiologic technologist

Responsibilities

  • Performs all diagnostic and interventional exams and procedures including, but not limited to, angiography, vertebroplasty, line placement, biopsies, and interventional.
  • Assists physicians in procedures ensuring that sterile technique is adhered to. Follows time out procedure.
  • Obtains history, explains exam, and addresses patient concerns. Administers contrast according to policy.
  • Operates imaging equipment in the prescribed manner by setting proper technique, collimation and protocol.
  • Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered; ensures quality images. Completes paperwork timely. Uses PACS to send images for interpretation and storage. Able to print images or burn CD on request.
  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature and in-services. Maintains continuing education credits to meet licensure requirements.
  • Transports patients to procedure room; prepares and maintains room. Provides service in a timely manner. Contacts service if indicated. Orders and stocks supplies.
  • Follows rules and regulations pertaining to ODH QA program 3701:1-66, ODH radiation protection standards 3701:1-38, ODH licensing requirements 3701-72.
