About The Position

This is a full-time position in Interventional Radiology requiring on-call duties and a commitment to living within 60 minutes of Good Shepherd Hospital. The role involves providing scrub support during diagnostic and interventional procedures, anticipating provider needs, and demonstrating competence in various roles within Cath/EP or IR. The technologist will operate imaging equipment, serve as a radiation expert, and ensure clear communication with providers and the team regarding technical issues to maintain quality assurance in imaging, hemodynamics, and oximetry. Patient care must be delivered safely and within the scope of practice, with strict adherence to sterile technique during prepping, draping, assisting, and circulating. The position also involves utilizing safety tools, advocating for patients, ensuring proper documentation, identifying educational needs, and agreeing on a plan of care. The technologist will serve as a resource to the team, providing inservices on technical skills, radiation safety, image quality, QA, and closure device techniques. Additionally, they will assist with supply inventory and actively participate in site or system teams and ongoing educational offerings.

Requirements

  • Current RT licensure in State of IL and current AART.
  • BLS.
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire.
  • 2-year Associate Degree from Accredited School of Radiology.
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Cathlab: Hemodynamic interpretation
  • Imaging equipment proficiency
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Team player, flexible with assignments
  • Sterile Technique Expert
  • Cath: Scrub, Circulate, Record.
  • IR: Scrub and Circulate.
  • Process Images in PACS
  • Basic Patient Assessment Skills
  • Ability to perform lifting, pulling, pushing activities and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance.
  • For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available.
  • Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Previous Imaging Experience Preferred in Xray, Imaging Special Procedures Knowledge

  • Actively participates in site or system teams; attends site staff meetings and ongoing educational offerings as available.
