About The Position

The Radiology Technologist Assistant supports the needs of the Radiology team with the use of the Radiology Information System, basic computer skills, and excellent communication skills. This role involves organizing rooms, stocking supplies, transporting patients, maintaining office and medical supplies, and responding to patients and visitors. The assistant will also operate radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).

Requirements

  • BLS Basic Life Support (required)
  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
  • 1 clinical semester completed in an imaging program, currently enrolled (required)
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes rooms, stocks linen, changes and properly removes linen.
  • Uses two patient identifiers prior to transporting patients to and from Radiology that are not requiring patient monitor or highflow oxygen.
  • Properly operates stretchers, patient beds, and wheelchairs.
  • Reviews daily department schedules in order to work efficiently with the Radiologic team members.
  • Maintains office and medical supplies in all Imaging areas and informs team leader when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Responds to patients and visitors promptly and politely.
  • Operates radiographic equipment and accessories in accordance with the principles of ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable).
