About The Position

The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider. This role involves preparing the room, equipment, and paperwork, as well as preparing the patient for the examination and explaining the procedure. The technician will provide radiation protection, transfer and position patients, operate x-ray equipment to produce high-quality radiographs, and follow protocols to ensure accuracy. Responsibilities also include developing films, placing identification and markers, collaborating with clinicians, reporting equipment failures, participating in quality assurance, ordering supplies, and maintaining a patient daily log. Adherence to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy is crucial, as is the ability to work at any FHCN location as needed. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Possesses work-related skills at a higher level than completion of high school, including formal written and verbal communications skills, computational and computer skills, mathematical, and technical skills.
  • Proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5.
  • Completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program with health care related knowledge.
  • Minimum of two years of experience demonstrating knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures, including the operation of X‑ray equipment and an understanding of imaging techniques.
  • Successful completion of a formal program of education specific to radiology tech.
  • Radiology Technologist certification.
  • Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
  • Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the state of California.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or technical information to co-workers and others.
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in the resolution of mild conflicts or disagreements.
  • Effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the high school diploma or Bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities

  • Placing patient identification and markers on radiographs.
  • Collaborating with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.
  • Reporting equipment failures and participating in quality assurance.
  • Inventorying and ordering supplies.
  • Maintaining Patient Daily Log.
  • Adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, based on business need.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
