About The Position

North Alabama Medical Center is a 263 bed facility offering the community’s only open heart surgery site, a complete line of women’s and children’s services and a complete line of medical and imaging services. We are a Certified Chest Pain center and recognized as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence by the American Heart/American Stroke Association. North Alabama Medical Center’s 24-hour emergency department serves as the primary referral center for major trauma cases in Northwest Alabama.

Requirements

  • Current state Radiologic Technologist license
  • Degree from an approved course in Radiologic Technology
  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Hospital training during two years of Radiologic Technologist program.
  • Must be a member of American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible and maintain registry once received.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics, or medical offices highly desired.
  • Desirable to belong to national, state and/or local societies.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders.
  • Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice.
  • Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s).
  • Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results.
  • Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure.
  • Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
