About The Position

The Radiology Technician is responsible for performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider. This includes preparing the room, equipment, and necessary paperwork, as well as preparing the patient for the examination and explaining the procedure. The technician provides radiation protection according to safety standards, transfers and positions patients correctly for x-rays, and operates x-ray equipment to produce high-quality radiographs. They follow protocols and guidelines, develop films, and place patient identification and markers. The role involves collaborating with clinicians, reporting equipment failures, participating in quality assurance, and managing inventory and supplies. Adherence to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy and the ability to work at any FHCN location are also required. Duties require the ability to effectively perform in response to workflow or ongoing direction, select from pre-established alternatives, and analyze information following established methods. The focus is primarily on the employee's own work, requiring the compilation of information.

Requirements

  • Proof of completion of high school with a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 or completion of General Educational Development (GED) with a minimum overall score of 162.5.
  • Completion of a trade school, para-professional, or certificate type program in a health care related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience demonstrating knowledge of radiation safety protocols and procedures, including the operation of X‑ray equipment and an understanding of imaging techniques.
  • Successful completion of a formal program of education specific to radiology tech.
  • Radiology Technologist certification.
  • Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
  • Graduation or completion of an approved program resulting in limited x-ray technician licensure by the state of California.
  • Effective communication of written information including electronic correspondence.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all scheduled or unscheduled x-ray studies, ordered by a licensed provider.
  • Preparing room, equipment, and necessary paperwork.
  • Preparing the patient for the examination and explaining the procedure.
  • Providing radiation protection for the patient according to prescribed safety standards.
  • Transferring patient to and from x-ray room; positioning patient correctly for x-ray being taken.
  • Operating x-ray equipment, selecting proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, thus producing good quality radiographs.
  • Following protocols and guidelines to ensure accurate and high-quality images.
  • Developing films using automatic processor.
  • Placing patient identification and markers on radiographs.
  • Collaborating with Clinicians to provide necessary imaging support for patient care.
  • Reporting equipment failures and participating in quality assurance.
  • Inventorying and ordering supplies.
  • Maintaining Patient Daily Log.
  • Adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
