About The Position

Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a PRN Radiology Tech at our various locations. This role involves preparing patients for radiologic procedures, utilizing equipment effectively while minimizing radiation exposure, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of radiographs. The technologist will also be responsible for maintaining records, performing quality control checks, and assisting with specialized procedures like fluoroscopy and arthograms. Communication with physician offices for clarification on orders and patient assessment are key aspects of the role. The technologist must adhere to safety standards and maintain radiographic department supplies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a CAHEA approved school of Radiologic Technology and/or JRCERT accredited school.
  • Two or more years of experience as a Radiology Technologist.
  • A.R.R.T. registered or registry eligible.
  • Possess current Utah State Radiology Technologist license.
  • Possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess ability to work independently during urgent care hours.
  • Knowledge of radiographic procedures and protocols.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform radiograph procedures including body mechanics and patient movement.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
  • Knowledge of exposure factors.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA.
  • Skill in positioning patients properly.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Skill in following infection control and radiological safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and position patients for the type of radiographic procedures required.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for radiologic procedures.
  • Use equipment and accessories; employ techniques and procedures; demonstrate expertise in minimizing radiation exposure to the patient, self and staff.
  • Select proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis, utilizing established protocols.
  • Check radiographs for clarity of image, proper patient identification; correct markers used; annotation of images.
  • Repeat radiograph when needed.
  • Review x-ray order for specifics including correct body part and pertinent history.
  • Contact physician office for clarification regarding order.
  • Assess situations; exercise care, discretion and judgment; assume responsibility for professional decisions; and act in the best interest of the patient.
  • Maintain required records including daily log books and monthly reports.
  • Perform daily equipment warm-up procedure and quality control checks to assure x-ray unit is in good working order.
  • Comply with safety standards outlined by state laws.
  • Act as an agent through observation and communication to obtain pertinent information for the physician to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of the patient.
  • Recognize that interpretation and diagnosis are outside the scope of practice for the profession.
  • Clean, maintain and report equipment repair issues to ensure that the equipment is repaired quickly.
  • Maintain radiographic department supplies.
  • Prepare patient for fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Assist with arthograms; obtain consent; explain to the patient what is involved in the procedure including risks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
