About The Position

Capital Health is seeking a Radiology Tech to provide clinical services according to radiology practice standards. This role acts as a resource to radiography students and other technologists, ensuring optimal patient care and efficient departmental operations. The position requires adherence to radiation protection and safety protocols, a thorough understanding of radiological principles, anatomy, positioning, and technique. The technologist will demonstrate patient safety through various measures, maintain radiation exposure within ALARA limits, and ensure images are correctly sent to PACS. Responsibilities include assisting physicians with studies, performing excellent patient care, recognizing and resolving clinical problems, and completing ancillary tasks for departmental efficiency. Accurate data entry, patient identification, and order verification are crucial. Specific duties may include reading/installing/removing/downloading holter monitors and performing EKGs if working at Hamilton. The role also involves other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology.
  • New Jersey Radiology Technologist License.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider.
  • Diagnostic Radiography License.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to perform on-call, holiday, and weekend work when required.

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards.

  • Demonstrates patient safety by use of guard rails, breaking mechanisms, shielding, and patient monitoring.
  • Maintains radiation exposure reading within the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) limits.
  • Demonstrates competence in correctly sending images to PACS.
  • Adheres to department policies and protocols to ensure that all studies are optimized for interpretation.
  • Assists physicians in the performance of various studies using standard department protocols and appropriate radiation protection and infection control procedures.
  • Performs excellent patient care.
  • Recognizes clinical and emergent problems that may interfere with exams and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Completes ancillary tasks to ensure efficient and consistent departmental operations.
  • Enters written and electronic data accurately in comments to provide all pertinent data to radiologists.
  • Identifies correctly patients and files to ensure a high degree of accuracy.
  • If working at Hamilton, readies, installs, removes, and downloads holter monitors.
  • Performs EKGs as needed.
  • Checks all orders for correct patient name, ordering physician, imaging, date, and signature.
  • Places orders and acknowledges completion of work.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
