About The Position

The Orthopedic Radiologic Technologist supports orthopedic surgeons by providing high-quality intraoperative and diagnostic imaging in an ambulatory surgery center setting. This role focuses on C‑arm fluoroscopy and orthopedic-specific imaging to assist with outpatient musculoskeletal procedures while ensuring patient safety, image accuracy, and efficient OR flow.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology from an accredited program
  • ARRT certification required
  • Current state radiologic technologist license (as applicable)
  • BLS/CPR certification required
  • Strong knowledge of: Skeletal anatomy, Fracture alignment and hardware visualization, Joint spaces and orthopedic landmarks
  • Experience imaging knees, shoulders, hips, ankles, wrists, elbows, spine, and long bones
  • Ability to anticipate surgeon needs during orthopedic procedures
  • Comfort working in lead for extended procedures
  • Physical ability to: Stand for extended periods, Assist with patient positioning, Wear lead aprons during procedures

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in orthopedics, surgery, ASC, or operating room strongly preferred
  • Fluoroscopy permit (if required by state)
  • Familiarity with orthopedic instrumentation and implants (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile C‑arm fluoroscopy equipment during orthopedic surgical procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Arthroscopy
  • Fracture reductions
  • Joint injections
  • Hardware placement (plates, screws, pins, rods)
  • Spine, extremity, and sports medicine procedures
  • Position patients accurately for optimal imaging of extremities, joints, and spine
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, anesthesiology, and OR staff to provide real-time imaging support
  • Adjust fluoroscopy angles, magnification, and exposure settings to meet provider needs
  • Maintain strict adherence to radiation safety standards (ALARA), including proper shielding for patients and staff
  • Prepare imaging equipment prior to procedures and ensure proper functionality
  • Communicate imaging studies and procedure details accurately to providers and staff
  • Follow sterile technique and infection control protocols in the operating room
  • Verify imaging orders, patient identity, and procedure site prior to imaging
  • Assist with equipment transport, setup, and patient transfers as needed
  • Participate in quality assurance activities and routine equipment checks
