Radiology Tech II
About The Position
Produces clinical diagnostic radiographic films. Performs routine diagnostic imaging procedures according to departmental protocol, policy and procedures and established standards of practice. Operates radiographic equipment, develops film, prepares room, equipment, supplies and medications. Provides patient care services using general and specialized imaging modalities under the direction of a physician but not requiring constant technical supervision. Radiology services are provided to patients of all ages. Applies ionizing radiation in the performance of a variety of technical procedures for radiological diagnosis. Responsible for patient care safety. Assists physicians in the performance of procedures and the administration of contrast media. Assumes responsibility for designated procedures and equipment. Participates in orientation of Radiology Department staff. Works cooperatively with members of the health care team to maintain standards for professional Radiological Technologist practice in the clinical setting.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited radiology program
- Two (2) years recent acute care hospital experience preferred
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers (AHA certified)
- Current State of CA CRT License
- Current ARRT
- Current State of CA Fluoroscopy license (or within 6 months of hire/ transfer)
- Current State of CA Mammography License preferred
- Venipuncture preferred
Responsibilities
- Verbalizes and/or demonstrates knowledge of clinical information and practices essential to assuring provision of age-specific care to infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, i.e. assuring neonate is never left unattended and geriatric patient skin integrity assessed and maintained, etc.
- Performs procedures in systematic and efficient manner, focusing on anatomy to be imaged while considering status of patient.
- Demonstrates competency in technical skills as evidenced by quality, accuracy of films produced, and appropriateness of techniques used.
- Practices radiation safety and informs management immediately in all cases when a radiation safety question or problem exists.
- Performs Fluoroscopy under the direct supervision of a Licensed Supervisor(M.D.).
- Utilizes correct patient positioning, and exposure factors.
- Provides appropriate patient care for radiology, IV, O2, IV Pump, etc.
- Maintains patient records and documentation accurately.
- Charges supplies accurately.
- Performs equipment malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
- Participates in routine cleaning of radiology equipment.
- Uses resources in a cost-effective manner.
- Performs and/or participates in the Radiology services Process Improvement, QualityAssurance, Quality Control and MQSA activities as may be required.
- Conforms, performs and/or participates in all mandated and/or voluntary programs of the Imaging services to comply with the provisions of JCAHO, DHS, and any regulatory agency requirements
