About The Position

The practice of radiography is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the administration of ionizing radiation to humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. A radiographer performs radiographic procedures and such as Lumbar Punctures, Myelograms, advanced MSK procedures, procedures involving a sterile technique, and complex imaging that requires extensive critical thinking. The role also involves inventorying, ordering, and tracking unit supplies using inventory management tools. This position requires a thorough knowledge of technical standards, scope of practice, department and health system policies, safety and service standards, imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment. The role also includes participating in the development of modality policy, procedures, and workflows.

Requirements

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT)
  • BLS certification
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience OR at least 6 years of experience in lieu of education
  • Proficient in modality advanced competencies
  • Thorough knowledge of technical standards, the scope of practice, department and health system policies, safety and service standards
  • Thorough understanding of imaging equipment, image processing software, instrumentation, and ancillary patient care equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform all the duties of a Diagnostic Technologist II.
  • Be a contributing member of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Lead daily department huddles.
  • Assist with examination protocol and policy review/revisions.
  • Perform basic lead technologists' functions such as coordinating work assignments, workflow, and staffing for an assigned shift/area.
  • Serve as a clinical or technical resource.
  • Provide training.
  • Perform Dosimeter Badge coordinator duties.
  • Initiate service calls and follow up until issues are resolved.
  • Participate in EOC rounding and TJC tracers alongside department leadership.
  • Act as a safety coach and potentially serve on the safety committee.
  • Develop and mentor other learners.
  • Show initiative and contribute to successful modality operations.
  • Recognize excellence in coworker performance and do not participate in disruptive behavior.
  • Initiate process improvement discussions with senior leaders.
  • Anticipate the needs of patients and coworkers and work to proactively remove barriers to exceptional customer service and/or teamwork.
  • Perform complex procedures as applicable to your primary area, including Lumbar Punctures, Myelograms, advanced MSK procedures, procedures involving a sterile technique, and complex imaging that requires extensive critical thinking.
