Requirements

  • Washington State Radiologic Technologist Certification.
  • Registered – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, RT(R) (CT) required.
  • Completes Samaritan appropriate CT modality orientation.
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (HCP) level to be completed within three (3) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize automatic exposure control and accurately employ technical factors (kvp, ma, time and distance).
  • Use appropriate cassettes, collimation, and tomographic factors, and assist physicians during exams.
  • Image and identify appropriate body parts, acquire necessary views, employ immobilization, and follow radiologist protocols.
  • Practice good sterile techniques and perform Computed Tomography Exams with and without power contrast injections.
  • Archive images appropriately with the PACS.
  • Use gantry angle mechanism appropriately, ensure appropriate table height, and proper positioning for the exam.
  • Transport, transfer, and position patients safely, confirming patient and exam preparations are appropriate.
  • Evaluate patient’s mental and physical condition to avoid hazardous situations and do not leave alone if safety is questioned.
  • Ensure accurate patient and image documentation in the HIS/RIS and PACS systems.
  • Perform SBAR as required and use AIDET.
  • Monitor patient needs.
  • Perform necessary paperwork and archiving.
  • Administer contrast media when appropriate.
  • Proficient in starting IV’s.
  • May be assigned on-call standby shifts as needed by the department.
  • Handle confidential information according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Setup specialized equipment by adjusting technical settings and physical parameters, and ensuring appropriate positioning for the exam.
  • Act as a mentor to students from affiliated Radiology Technology Programs.
  • Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Ensure no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies, including security and safety, MSDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, and safe lifting.
  • Ensure self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  • Ensure courteous and efficient interface with team members and other support groups.
  • Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets standards.
  • Handle additional accountabilities as required by management.
