About The Position

The Radiology Support Professional is responsible for 4 main functions within the department: Customer Service Associate/Department Operator for the department of radiology with customers and physicians. Scheduling appointments based on the physician’s orders and the needs of the individual patient. Image and report management and exchange (addendums, burning, importing, exporting, mailing, etc). Check in and registration of patients receiving care within the radiology departments.

• Excellent communication with the patient, radiologists, and physician’s office, and other hospital departments while maintaining high degree of professionalism and positive customer relations is vital.
• High School diploma required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Nice To Haves

• Associates degree in a Healthcare discipline with three to five years’ experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
• Medical terminology background is highly preferable.
• Knowledge and understanding of hospital functions is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Optimizing all schedules and appointments of all modalities
• Meeting department objectives
• Accuracy of patient registration, verification of demographics, insurance and financial information
• Coordination of special procedures appointments such as: scheduling Biopsies, Lumbar punctures, Interventional Radiology, Vascular, and cardiology procedures
• Obtain prior studies and results
• Order special blood work for certain procedures
• Cross train and support all programs and other duties assigned
