About The Position

Assists in the performance of imaging procedures, patient reception, PACS, and transport duties. Corroborates patient's clinical history with the procedure, ensuring information is documented and available to the technologist and radiologist. Assists in preparing and positioning the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Assists in selecting and operating imaging equipment, image capture devices, and accessories to successfully perform procedures. Positions the patient to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort, and immobilizes the patient as required for the examination. Assumes responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of the patient during procedures and initiates basic life support when necessary. Assists in determining radiographic technique and exposure factors, applying principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to the patient, self, and others. Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control. Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, and submits images and data for physician review and interpretation. Observes and follows all universal precautions and infection control techniques, using patient identifiers. Assists in reception by answering phones, greeting, and registering patients for imaging exams. Prepares images to be sent to other facilities and imports CD and VPN images into PACS. Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients, and utilizes appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Six months experience as a radiography student required
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing software, Order processing system, and Word processing
