About The Position

Assists in the performance of imaging procedures, including patient reception, PACS, and transport duties. Corroborates patient's clinical history with the procedure, ensuring information is documented and available. Assists in preparing and positioning patients, providing instructions, and selecting/operating imaging equipment. Applies principles of radiation protection and patient safety. Processes images, uses radiology information systems (including PACS), and completes required records. Observes universal precautions and infection control techniques. Assists with reception duties such as answering phones, greeting, and registering patients. Prepares images for transfer to other facilities and imports CD and VPN images into PACS.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology
  • Six months experience as a radiography student required
  • Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing software, Order processing system, and Word processing.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the performance of imaging procedures.
  • Performs patient reception, PACS and transport duties.
  • Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, ensuring information is documented and available to the technologist and radiologist.
  • Assists in preparing and positioning the patient for procedures, providing instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation and minimize anxiety.
  • Assists in the selects and operation of imaging equipment, image capture devices and accessories to successfully perform procedures.
  • Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort.
  • Immobilizes patient as required for examination.
  • Assumes responsibility for provision of physical and psychological needs of patient during procedures.
  • Initiates basic life support when necessary.
  • Assists in determining radiographic technique and exposure factors.
  • Applies principles of radiation protection to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Uses radiology information systems (including PACS), completes all required records and reports, submits images and data for physician review and interpretation.
  • Observes and follows all universal precautions and infection control techniques.
  • Uses patient identifiers.
  • Assists in reception by answering phones, greeting, and register patients for imaging exams.
  • Preparing images to be sent to other facilities.
  • Importing CD and VPN images into PACS.
  • Applies principles of patient safety during procedures, including assisting and transporting patients.
  • Utilities appropriate scripting, barriers, and patient identifiers.
