About The Position

UVA Outpatient Imaging Culpeper is seeking a friendly, organized, and customer-focused Scheduler I to join their patient-centered team. This role involves assisting patients and referring offices with scheduling outpatient imaging appointments while providing excellent customer service. The position is full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch. It is located at 509 S. Main St., Suite 100, Culpeper, VA 22701. This is a hybrid opportunity after successful completion of required in-person training. The position offers a career growth path from Scheduler I to Scheduler II, Business Office Supervisor, and Business Office Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Previous experience working in a medical or healthcare setting is required.
  • Strong customer-service, communication, organization, and computer skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
  • Ability to provide documentation accurately and concisely.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with medical scheduling, patient coordination, registration, or call-center workflows is preferred.
  • Experience scheduling radiology or diagnostic imaging services is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records, insurance verification, and medical terminology is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume inbound call queue.
  • Make outbound calls to schedule patients and follow up on outstanding orders.
  • Schedule imaging appointments accurately based on physician orders, diagnoses, and exam requirements.
  • Verify patient demographics, insurance information, referring-provider information, and order accuracy.
  • Communicate with patients, referring offices, clinical staff, registration, and authorization teams.
  • Meet established call-volume, productivity, attendance, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and provide a professional, compassionate experience.
  • Assist with additional scheduling and business-office responsibilities as needed.
