About The Position

The Radiology & Mammography Technologist performs diagnostic X-ray and mammography examinations and produces high-quality images in accordance with departmental positioning guidelines, protocols, ACR guidelines, and accepted radiation-safety procedures. The technologist works under the guidance of the Radiology Supervisor and participates in quality improvement and quality control activities. The role also includes producing image copies and assisting with clerical and mammography-tracking tasks.

Requirements

Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology training program.
Massachusetts ARRT registration in good standing in both Radiography and Mammography.
Certification and clinical experience in Mammography.
CPR certification and ability to maintain it annually.

An associate's degree is strongly desired.

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic radiographic and mammographic examinations according to department protocols and use technical factors that ensure high-quality results within ACR guidelines.
Produce copies of radiographic and mammographic images on film or CD as needed.
Recognize age-related pathology and physical presentation when performing examinations and selecting technical factors.
Assist with clerical duties, including patient data entry, scheduling and updating appointments, preparing exams for reading and filing, and maintaining the mammography tracking system.
Participate in quality improvement and quality control activities.
Follow department positioning guidelines and accepted radiation-safety procedures.
