About The Position

Under general supervision performs all clerical duties assigned. This position performs a variety of tasks including greeting and directing patients, answering telephones, faxing reports, completing the registration process and entering exam orders into the Radiology Information System. Duties also include, transcribe in Cerner, working in the PACS and related applications environment.

  • Answers telephone courteously within 3 rings, identifying self and department
  • Greets customers promptly and assures timely care
  • Completes registration process
  • Prints schedule and calls for orders when assigned
  • Burns and uploads CDs with images and releases reports
  • Fills in as Outpatient Receptionist
  • Calls physician's office with results when needed and transcribes addendum of report delivery
  • Uses Radiology Information System (RIS), Hospital Information System (HIS), and PACS
  • Demonstrates confidentiality using own password and all patient care modules
  • Recognizes and performs tasks not directly assigned
  • Keeps work area stocked with office and medical supplies and reorders as necessary
  • Participates in hospital Performance Improvement activities using LEAN tools and techniques

Responsibilities

  • Remains aware of and sensitive to patients’ rights in all interfaces with patients.
  • Complies with organization-wide and department specific policies and procedures, including working knowledge of policies, reference to policies as needed.
  • Recognizes and reports unsafe conditions and/or acts.
  • Identifies the patients prior to completing the check-in process or releasing patients’ results or films.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of personal/ departmental role in the event of Emergency and/or Disaster.
  • Provides services in own job category to all age groups.
  • Demonstrates competency for ie courier lists, subpoenas, film pick up.
  • Answers the telephone courteously within 3 rings, identifying self and department.
