About The Position

This position is responsible for all general film library duties, including filing and downloading image data to the PACS system. The clerk will utilize the Department of Radiology Information System to track images and the disposition of the interpretive report. Responsibilities include responding to image requests via phone or internal request system per departmental standards, and performing related duties as requested. The role requires treating patients, staff, physicians, and the general public in a friendly, courteous, and helpful manner, and incorporating the concepts of the Mission and Vision into practice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Ability to be detail-oriented and to function with interruptions.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, helpful attitude under stress.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive material.
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy environment with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ability to navigate through the PACS system to locate images and transfer image data.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English effectively at a level appropriate for the job.
  • Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve dictation and image transfer processes, escalating to management when needed.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Knowledge of alpha and numeric filing.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

  • Answers department and reading room phones directing callers and providing follow up as needed.
  • Burns CDs.
  • Downloads images for review or storage.
  • Ensures images are available for review on PACS and corresponding paperwork is present.
  • Monitors the dictation and transcription process and notify the radiologists and leadership to meet performance standards.
  • Performs reception functions when required at the front desk.
  • Verifies the requester's information submitted in order to provide accurate check-out of patient's images consistent with HIPAA and hospital guidelines.
  • Filing and downloading image data to the PACS system.
