About The Position

This is a Temporary Position. A Radiology Extern is responsible and accountable for cleaning and setting up equipment and assisting technologists and other healthcare workers in order to provide quality patient care and services. Organize work assignments, conduct-imaging room set up, patient verification, explain procedures to patients; help in patient transfers from and to beds, and wheelchairs. Maintain the supplies room, set up exam rooms, and accurately position patients on applicable equipment for exams. Ensure patient comfort; engage patients and coworkers in ethical conduct, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Stocking and putting away new deliveries of supplies.
  • Maintaining weekly unit order sheet based off PAR levels.
  • Returning unused equipment to their specific areas.
  • Maintaining adequate supply of Oxygen cylinders throughout department.
  • Ensuring cylinders are in appropriate racks (full/Partial vs Empty).
  • Removing empty cylinders from facility and ensuring proper placement in storage area.
  • Complying with all policy and procedures that pertain to HIPPA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job portion.
  • Performing and fulfilling all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks and roles as directed and needed by facility in times of emergency and/or disaster.
  • Knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each and adhering to the Hospital polices and procedure for each emergency code.
  • Accepting/participating on assigned Team for Hurricane response.
  • Reporting for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities.
  • Reporting to work in proper uniform or attire.
  • Leaving for meal break on time and returning on time.
  • Varying work schedule to meet the needs of the department.
  • Ensuring all overtime had been approved by the department head prior to working.
  • Scheduling all time off with supervisors’ approvals.
  • Strictly adhering to hospital attendance/tardiness policies 100% of the time.
  • Wearing I.D. badge in visible location at all times on hospital property.
  • Attending and participating in meetings and being responsible for information communicated at meetings.
  • Adhering to Healthcare District, Hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time.
  • Reading and comprehending the company’s standards of Conduct.
  • Demonstrating compliance with the company’s Ethics program.
  • Participating in Standards of Conduct training within the last 12 months.
  • Understanding that compliance with Healthcare District Integrity Program is condition of employment and violation of any principals or practices if the program will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
  • Assisting all patients, family members, physicians, visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.

Responsibilities

  • Bringing patients to and from various facility departments.
  • Making a positive identification of the patient, verify with nursing the mode of transport and any special needs (IV pumps, O2 tank, etc.) that may be required for care in transit or for the procedural requested.
  • Communicating any continued care needs of the patient to Nursing or the Specialty area while the patient is in transit.
  • Ensuring safe transportation of patients according to hospital policy as requested.
  • Transporting patients to the Radiology department in a timely manner and transporting patients back to the nursing units.
  • Transporting equipment/supplies as requested.
  • Maintaining department equipment and organization of supply room.
  • Keeping wheelchairs available for use.
  • Performing cleaning of wheelchairs after each patient use and as needed.
  • Completing weekly and as needed check on equipment and ensuring good working order.
  • Taking equipment out of service and notifying appropriate area for repair.
  • Preparing and submitting work orders as needed.
