About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the clinical and technical staff, the Radiology Assistant will assist with procedures, escorting patients and parents, and facilitating workflow. They will provide support to technical staff by assisting in the positioning and immobilization of patients undergoing procedures. The role is responsible for transporting the patient and/or parent to and from the Radiology Department and performing other related duties as deemed necessary. This position requires maintaining the utmost level of confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrating ethical business practices and integrity. Professionalism in dealing with patients and families regarding questioning, explanation of procedures, and transportation is essential. The assistant will greet patients and families cordially, answer questions appropriately, and correctly identify patients for examination. Patient safety is paramount throughout their visit and during transport. Annual MRI Safety Training and Radiation Safety Training are required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma.
  • Ability to correctly identify patient by checking patient ID band against request/orders.
  • MRI Safety Training required annually.
  • Radiation Safety Training required annually.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Assist clinical and technical staff with procedures.
  • Escort patients and parents.
  • Facilitate workflow within the Radiology Department.
  • Provide support to technical staff in positioning and immobilizing patients for procedures.
  • Transport patients and/or parents to and from the Radiology Department via wheelchair, stretcher, or in arms.
  • Ensure patient safety throughout their visit in Radiology and during transport.
  • Assist in moving patients to and from the exam table.
  • Assist with patient positioning for exams under the direction of registered technical or clinical staff.
  • Clean equipment with appropriate germicidal solution following an exam.
  • Burn patient exams onto a CD if requested.
  • Answer the telephone, taking special requests and information.
  • Maintain utmost level of confidentiality.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate business practices and personal actions that are ethical and adhere to corporate compliance and integrity guidelines.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with patients and families.
