Radiology Assistant
About The Position

This position supports the general, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, CT, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology technologists. The role is responsible for film filing and image management functions, ensuring necessary images/reports are available within the EMR and PACS. It also performs general clerical duties to maintain radiology record management and may assist in providing diagnostic radiographic procedures according to standards and guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent.
- Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older to be eligible for employment.
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred, but on-the-job training will be provided.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides quality patient care.
- Supports the general, ultrasound, mammography, MRI, CT, Cath Lab, and Interventional Radiology technologists.
- Responsible for film filing and image management functions.
- Works with all departments, patients, and providers to ensure necessary images/reports are available within the EMR and PACS.
- Performs general clerical duties to maintain radiology record management.
- May assist in providing diagnostic radiographic procedures according to standards and guidelines.
- Performs image management functions within the PACS system, such as order entry, image reconciliation, importing/exporting imaging exams and reports.
- Knowledge of the EMR to view imaging history and to document release of imaging exams.
- Works with HIM for release of imaging records following established HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Serves as an ambassador of goodwill in providing department services to all clinical and non-clinical personnel.
- Ability and willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensures proper protection of patient's confidential information.
