About The Position

The Radiology Assistant supports operational efficiency and patient care within the Imaging Services team. The role helps maintain a smooth radiology department workflow and a positive patient experience. It includes maintaining and cleaning patient transport equipment, verifying patient identity and transport details, and coordinating with nursing staff before moving patients. The position also requires understanding the importance of diagnostic imaging, including workflow, patient positioning, and the need for precise results that support timely and accurate diagnoses.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR).
• Basic computer skills.
• Complete Restraint Training within six months.
• Complete the Safe Patient Handling program within six months.
• Complete the Oxygen Training program within six months.
• Complete a Medical Terminology Course within six months.

Responsibilities

• Check department wheelchairs and carts daily to ensure they are mechanically sound and immediately report defects to the supervisor.
• Clean transporting equipment after every patient.
• Verify the patient's identity before transport.
• Verify the mode of transport and exam order in the patient's chart before transport.
• Check with the patient's nurse before taking a patient from the floor.
• For patients on telemetry, call before the patient leaves the floor and again upon their return.
