Under the direct supervision of the clinical and technical staff, the Radiology Assistant will assist with procedures, escorting patients and parents, and facilitating workflow. This role provides support to technical staff by assisting in the positioning and immobilization of patients undergoing procedures. The assistant is responsible for transporting patients and/or parents to and from the Radiology Department and will perform other related duties as deemed necessary. The job requires maintaining utmost confidentiality, adhering to hospital policies and procedures, and demonstrating ethical business practices. Professionalism in dealing with patients and families regarding questions, explanations of procedures, and transportation is essential. The assistant will greet patients and families cordially, answer questions appropriately, and correctly identify patients for examination. Patient safety during their visit and while being transported is a key responsibility. Annual MRI Safety Training and Radiation Safety Training are required. The assistant will help move patients to and from the exam table and, under the direction of technical or clinical staff, assist with patient positioning. Cleaning equipment with appropriate germicidal solutions after exams and burning patient exams onto a CD are also duties. Answering the telephone and taking messages are part of the role.
