About The Position

The Radiological Shipping Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating all aspects of radioactive and mixed waste material packaging, transportation, and disposal to ensure strict compliance with 40 CFR, 49 CFR Parts 100‑177, NAVSEA 389‑0288, IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, and related local procedures. They will be required to develop and implement effective strategies and establish long‑term objectives for the safe and efficient management, transportation, and disposal of radioactive waste materials while ensuring compliance with the Program’s Compliance Plan. The supervisor guides the engineering team in radiological analyses for packaging design, load‑securement planning/design, shipment schedule management, and regular assessments of the Rad Shipping Program while also managing the shipper function’s pre‑shipment preparations, waste/material analysis to determine hazard classes, package inspections, shipment documentation, and pre- and post-transportation operations. Strong leadership is required to mentor and train personnel, conduct competency assessments, maintain qualification records, develop and maintain key performance indicators, and foster a “first‑time quality” culture; effective project management skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to conduct agenda‑driven meetings, create a Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) for work, track corrective actions, and manage assessments for driving compliance and continuous improvement through technology and AI‑enabled management tools, prepare clear status reports and training materials, and communicate effectively with senior leadership. Overall, the position requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, operational oversight, and direction necessary to protect personnel, the environment, and the organization’s compliance posture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering and design; OR Master's Degree and 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Ability to understand the business and integrate technology into the business/process.
  • US Citizenship Required.
  • Final Clearance Required to Start.
