About The Position

This position has a target start date of summer 2027. We offer you a variety of interesting and challenging opportunities in Radiological/Nuclear engineering. You will work with a multi-discipline engineering project team engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants in the following areas: Radiological dose calculations, Shielding design calculations, Radiation source term calculations. Working under the direction of senior engineers, this position will offer you the opportunity to utilize and expand your academic background in Radiological/Nuclear Engineering.

Requirements

  • Active enrollment in a BS/MS in Nuclear Engineering with a strong academic background and coursework in radiological analysis.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willing or able to solve problems using modern tools.
  • Willing to build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment in an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • Prior, related internship or co-op experience.
  • Experience with MCNP.
  • Experience with RADTRAD.
  • Experience with MicroShield.
  • Experience with ORIGEN.
  • Experience with ARCON96.
  • Programming or scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation.
  • Additional learning, such as a minor, certificate, or other training in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields that helps you apply automation or agentic AI to real engineering problems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform radiological dose calculations.
  • Perform shielding design calculations.
  • Perform radiation source term calculations.
  • Utilize and expand academic background in Radiological/Nuclear Engineering.
  • Work with a multi-discipline engineering project team engaged in the design and engineering of upgrades and modifications to existing nuclear power plants.
  • Take engineering problems from issue to solution using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs.
  • Build or use automation to create calculations, summarize technical documents, or draft design documentation, including appropriate use of agentic AI tools, with strong engineering judgment and verification of results.
