Requirements

High School Diploma required.
Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technologist program required.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire, obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA).
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required at time of hire.
State licensure as a Radiologic Technologist is required at the time of hire (if applicable by state law).
Knowledge of X-ray procedures and protocols.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-ray testing including body mechanics and patient movement.
Knowledge of radiology equipment including safety hazards common to radiology.
Ability to position patients properly for the X-ray procedure required.
Ability to identify equipment problems and correct or notify supervisor.
Ability to follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Medical Providers and Medical Assistants on patient care management, organization, and communication.
Apply x-ray energy to assist in the diagnosis or treatment of patients of all age groups.
Perform and analyze patient x-rays and report results to Medical Providers.
Provide administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the Urgent Care Centers.
Prepare patients for examination, including verifying information, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
Perform preliminary physical tests (blood pressure, weight, temperature) for vital signs and escalate critical cases to the provider.
Conduct point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG).
Maintain medical records and scan charts to patient files.
Conduct courtesy call-backs for patient follow-up.
Perform and document daily controls and calibration of equipment.
Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control logs for equipment.
Troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets.
Determine which procedures or views will best assist in accurate diagnoses and treatment in collaboration with the Provider.
Support clinic operations to ensure smooth center functioning.
Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety, and answering questions.
Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging results.
Select proper ionizing factors by adjusting/setting radiographic controls to capture clear, high-quality diagnostic images.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of X-ray equipment, and manage necessary supplies.
Adhere to strict radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems and/or logbooks.
Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation.
