This position is responsible for performing all radiologic exams and other special/fluoroscopic procedures within the scope of their license. The technologist ensures radiation safety by following the principle of ALARA, determines the most suitable anatomic position and shielding of patients, and instructs and prepares patients for imaging examinations. They review and process images, administer contrast agents if required, and screen patients for contraindications. Patient safety measures, including ensuring the right patient, right dose/rate, and right procedure/site/side, are consistently practiced. The role also involves completing annual educational requirements, maintaining regulatory compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations, and possessing current certifications as required.
