About The Position

This position is responsible for performing essential radiological procedures and for handling the necessary details associated with those procedures; i.e. preparing patients for procedures, processing film, and maintaining records and reports. Work is performed under general supervision. Work is performed independently within established guidelines and procedures. Work is performed in usual clinic conditions; requires a high degree of contact with patients and physicians. Perform diagnostic imaging exams such as X-rays on inmates as ordered by licensed providers.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an approved two-year program in radiological technology
  • Current and unrestricted American Registry of Radiological Technology
  • Medical Radiologic Technologist licensure through the Texas Medical Board (TMB)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic imaging exams such as X-rays on inmates as ordered by licensed providers.
  • Maintain and calibrate radiology equipment to ensure operational safety and image quality.
  • Accurately document imaging procedures and maintain imaging records in compliance with policies.
  • Communicate effectively with inmates, medical staff, and security personnel to ensure safe and efficient imaging services.
  • Follow all infection control protocols and safety standards during imaging procedures.
  • Provide support in emergency situations requiring imaging services.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal radiology regulations, including radiation dose monitoring.
  • Physically maneuver equipment and position inmates for imaging in constrained and secure environments.
