About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures and produces images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner. The role requires knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology, as well as accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques and knowledge of radiation protection and safety.

Radiographers address patients’ physical, cultural, and emotional needs through effective communication, patient assessment, monitoring, and care. In the clinical environment, they also perform a dual role that can include patient registration, scheduling, clerical support, and customer service. After training and demonstrated competency, they may perform basic medical assistant duties, including triaging patients under a provider’s direction and supervision, obtaining height and weight and vital signs, and conducting specific point-of-care testing.

Requirements

• Post-high-school diploma program.
• Relevant experience.
• BLS certification.
• RT (R) (ARRT) certification, or certification eligibility; technologists hired upon graduation must pass the examination before their start date.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiographic procedures and produce images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed independent practitioner.
• Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology when performing radiographic work.
• Maintain accuracy in radiographic positioning and exposure techniques.
• Maintain knowledge of radiation protection and safety.
• Communicate with patients and provide patient assessment, monitoring, and care that is sensitive to their physical, cultural, and emotional needs.
• Perform clinical support duties such as patient registration, scheduling, clerical support, and customer service.
• After training and demonstrating competency, perform basic medical assistant duties, which may include triaging patients under provider direction and supervision, obtaining height and weight and vital signs, and performing specific point-of-care testing.
