About The Position

This job is responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols. This job is a clinical mentor for junior staff and students. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements

  • Completion of a Radiologic Technology program in an AMA approved school
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Current license in the state of practice
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).
  • Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to sit and stand for prolonged periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses patients and safely performs routine radiographic procedures in accordance with prescribed safety procedures and protocols.
  • Acts as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.
  • Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
  • Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (may include placement of nasogastric tubes, IVs, urinary catheters, and administration of contrast).
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards.
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted.
  • Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
  • Remains knowledgeable on current federal, state and local laws, accreditation standards or regulatory agency requirements that apply to the assigned area of responsibility and ensures compliance with all such laws, regulations and standards.
  • Reports any known or suspected unethical or questionable behaviors or conduct; patient/employee safety, patient privacy, and/or other compliance-related concerns.
