About The Position

The radiologic technologist is responsible for safely and proficiently producing images and performing related patient care for diagnostic use according to government regulations, physician/provider orders, policies and procedures of Imaging Services, and policies and procedures of the hospital. RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS): Produce quality images by interpreting orders, assessing the patient, completing necessary documentation, positioning the patient, selecting appropriate equipment and supplies, selecting accurate technique factors, making exposures and processing/analyzing/preparing images for providers. Operate radiographic equipment safely and proficiently. Properly calibrate machines for correct dosing. Correctly manipulate patients and equipment to capture high quality images. Provide care to all patients according to policies, procedures, and patient care standards. Follow regulations related to viewing or updating confidential patient health information. Ensure correct record keeping including but not limited to markings and labels on images. Perform fluoroscopic and other special procedures following sterile practices. Take direction from physicians, providers and supervisors and follow through in a concise, efficient manner. Prioritize patient care and respond as directed by physician, provider, leadership, and/or clinic protocol. Appropriately adapts assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the physical, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each person served. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through continuing education opportunities including internal and external educational offerings. Regular attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts. Must adhere to safety protocols at all times. Utilization of assistive devices for lifting is mandatory. Implement DRH Standards of Behavior and exhibit behaviors consistent with DRH core values. Per DRH policy, all required conditions of employment must be met and maintained including required vaccinations. This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals. Performs other related duties as assigned by department leadership.

Requirements

  • Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English.
  • Basic computer skills with information technology associated with the position including a familiarity with sending/receiving email, related software, and use of EHR information tools.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to emergent or urgent situations.
  • Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
  • Must be able to take call and respond within 30 minutes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of an AMA-approved, accredited Radiologic Technology (ARRT) program.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS; May have up to 30 days to earn BLS after date of hire or transfer.
  • ARRT(R) certification; May have up to 1 year from date of hire or transfer to earn ARRT(R) certification.
  • For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
