About The Position

The Radiologic Technologist performs a variety of radiographic procedures. Responsible for clerical duties, transport of patients to and from the Radiology department and developing radiographic films as needed. The Radiologic Technologist will: Performs of a variety of radiographic examinations of patients of all ages and with various disabilities. Transfers patients on and off the examination table and positions patient to obtain the requested radiographic examinations. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis. Selects and operates equipment as required. Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards. Maintains documentation and records as directed. Completes inventory of departmental supplies and schedules patients as needed. Assists with the Quality Assurance department with testing of the radiographic equipment. In absence of department manager, may be designated as acting manager. Performs all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology, routine equipment maintenance and medical terminology normally acquired through completion of a formal AMA approved school in Radiologic Technology.
  • Licensed and registered with the State of Illinois.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with radiographic and processing equipment.
  • Analytical ability needed to determine best method of providing requested radiographs based on individual cases.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress
  • Ability to transfer and position patients, consistent with lifting up to 35 lbs.
