About The Position

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) is seeking a part-time Radiologic Technologist to join their nationally recognized orthopedic services team. The Orthopedic Program at Rush University Medical Center is ranked top 10 in Orthopedics by U.S. News and World Report. MOR doctors are the official team physicians for several Chicago sports teams. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic images, possess high energy, be compassionate, flexible, and have great attention to detail. This position is based at the outpatient clinic in Munster, Indiana.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited X-Ray Technologist Program.
  • Certified Registered Technician of Radiography (RT-R.)
  • IEMA and ARRT Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient for radiologic procedures and takes x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
  • Maintain working knowledge in the use of PACS, DR and CR Radiologic equipment.
  • Trains with new procedures and technologies as they are added to the Radiology workflow.
  • Use C-Arm where appropriate.
  • Prepare medications and assists the physician with Fluoroscopic procedures.
  • Maintain procedure rooms and stocks necessary medical and fluoroscopy supplies.
  • Prepares and positions patient for diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Adjusts immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Holding of the patient may be required for certain exams where immobilization devices cannot be used.
  • Explains procedures to patient to reduce anxieties and obtain patient cooperation.
  • Moves imaging equipment into specified position, determines exposure factors on basis of height, weight, portion of body involved, and degree of penetration required, and adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors and produce images of proper detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Practices radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
  • Performs specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Assists physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations. Measures and prepares medication and contrast media.
  • Processes images and reviews for proper identification and quality control.
  • Prepares images for reading by the requesting physician.
  • Notifies the Radiology Manager regarding malfunctions and repairs as needed.
  • Properly uses EHR to enter CPT codes for billing purposes.
  • Properly uses EHR and PACS for Radiology and charting purposes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
