About The Position

Performs mammographic procedures at a technical level requiring limited supervision of technical detail, using existing standards as a guide and independent judgment when completing routine examinations and procedures. May be responsible for designated areas or procedures, including breast ultrasound, DEXA scans, and specialized breast imaging interventions such as stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound core biopsy, and cyst aspiration.

Requirements

• High school graduate.
• At least one year of clinical experience in a general radiologic area, with a thorough understanding of departmental function.
• Strong technical and clinical skills.
• Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology training program at an A.M.A.-approved school.
• Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or another recognized credentialing body.
• Obtain mammography registry within one year of hire.
• Possess a current Ohio license in the area of assignment.
• BLS provider certification, or obtain it within three months of hire.
• ARRT certificate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Nice To Haves

• May be required to possess a specialty credential in addition to R.T.-M, such as sonography or bone densitometry.

Responsibilities

• Assess the accuracy of orders and examinations.
• Use appropriate skills and equipment to obtain quality mammography images and bone density imaging.
• Perform thorough and accurate quality control on all equipment.
• Educate patients about examinations and general breast care.
• Perform assigned clerical and support functions.
• Use management information systems, including PACS and Magview, appropriately and accurately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Demonstrate the ability to perform mammography imaging and assist the radiologist with procedures.
• Recognize changes in patient response and initiate appropriate modifications to routines.
