The diagnostic Radiologic Technologist successfully acquires quality radiographs and performs fluoroscopy guidance for diagnostic, surgical, and therapeutic purposes, using the expertise and knowledge of radiologic technology and radiographic equipment and positioning. This role involves technical requirements such as problem-solving, troubleshooting, and independent work in various areas of the diagnostic radiology department, including the operating room with portable X-ray and c-arm equipment. The technologist may also perform medical assistant duties, participate in OR procedures, and operate all radiographic rooms and equipment. Responsibilities include tracking, scanning, verifying studies, completing paperwork, monitoring PACS, documenting exam details, prepping patients, taking histories, explaining procedures, ensuring correct patient positioning, preparing contrast agents, and utilizing shielding. Departmental and institutional requirements include staying updated on policies and protocols, willingness to rotate assignments and shifts, flexibility for weekends and shift changes, abiding by mandates, rotating through campuses, adhering to Ellis Medicine Behaviors and Standards, and not sleeping on the clock. Technologists must clean and stock the department during downtime. Per Diem employees must follow specific policies regarding holidays and monthly hours in designated departments. All technologists are expected to be role models, mentoring and teaching students.
