About The Position

Provides imaging services to patients and supports the department in basic radiographic duties under the direct supervision of a registered Radiological Technologist. This role involves assisting with patient preparation, routine diagnostic imaging, utilizing radiation protection and safety standards, and documenting patient information accurately. The position may also involve assisting physicians in imaging procedures, administering contrast media, and transporting patients. Adherence to all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies, is required.

Requirements

  • No experience required
  • High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited radiography program as determined by the organization required upon hire.
  • Temporary Student Radiography License through Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) required within 30 days of employment in this position
  • BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position
  • Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
  • Works under direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient preparation through verification of patient identity, explanation of procedures, positioning patients for exams and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Assist technologists with routine diagnostic imaging, including setting up rooms, preparing supplies and positioning equipment.
  • Utilizes radiation protection and safety standards.
  • Applies as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA) principle to minimize exposure to patient, self, and others.
  • Documents patient information accurately.
  • May assist the physician in a variety of imaging procedures.
  • Assists with the preparing and administering contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • May transport patients to and from imaging areas as needed.
  • Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and organizational policies.
