About The Position

The Radiologist Technologist-Limited is responsible for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Diagnostic Radiology department and throughout the organization. This role involves producing high-quality radiographs, managing patient information in the Radiology Information System, and ensuring radiation safety protocols are followed. The technologist also plays a role in patient education, safety inspections, and equipment maintenance communication. Additionally, adherence to service excellence standards, effective communication, and teamwork are expected.

Requirements

  • Completion of Limited Scope Radiologic Technologist educational program.
  • Must pass the ARRT Limited Scope core examination.
  • Applicants must have a Virginia Department of Health license to practice as a LIMITED Radiologic Technologist.
  • Must be BLS certified within 1 month of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Produce a variety of high-quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique.
  • Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and document.
  • Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology charges, and/or credits.
  • Review patient's chart for confirmation of physician's orders and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions.
  • Follow department, ACR, NRC and State policies and regulations for radiation safety to keep exposure "ALARA".
  • Educate the patient and family when necessary, regarding exams and procedures.
  • Perform visual preventative safety inspections and report dangerous department or equipment conditions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to appropriate leader.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive workplace and customer environments.
  • Work as a team to continuously improve work quality.
  • Confirm patient identification prior to procedure by verbal confirmation on outpatients and identification band on inpatients.
  • Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
  • Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling, when necessary, to ensure patient care.
