Under general supervision, prepares patients for and performs Radiologic examinations. Core Competencies include using ALARA and safety principles at all times, displaying flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability. The role involves providing healthcare services to all age groups, demonstrating competence in interpersonal relationships, and completing assigned procedures efficiently. The technologist will utilize Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS. Responsibilities include answering technical telephone inquiries, maintaining a safe and clean work environment, managing medical stock, and assuming responsibility for professional growth, including maintaining current licensure and educational requirements. The role also involves understanding medication security, adhering to infection control guidelines, assisting student technologists, transporting patients safely, and following Universal Protocol for patient identification and communication. Department-specific competencies include operating all x-ray equipment, calibrating and maintaining equipment, producing diagnostic quality images, performing portable procedures in high-stress environments, administering contrast, instructing and preparing patients, assisting the Radiologist, ensuring accurate charging and documentation in RIS, collecting and transporting specimens, assuming on-call status, and working cooperatively to resolve problems. The role also involves following Lean principles, creating SOPs, and orienting/training new employees and students.
