The Electrophysiology (EP) Technologist plays a crucial role in assisting with complex interventional procedures within the EP lab. This position involves patient positioning, selecting technical factors for high-quality imaging with minimal radiation dose, and participating in advanced procedures such as de-clotting of blood vessels, UFE, and venous ablations. The technologist will work alongside Interventional Radiologists, vascular surgeons, neuro radiologists, neurosurgeons, and other specialists, performing and assisting in procedures requiring a deep understanding of vascular and neurovascular anatomy. Responsibilities include obtaining and transmitting radiographic images, setting up and interpreting cardiac monitoring systems, preparing patients in a sterile fashion, maintaining equipment, and ensuring efficient room utilization. The role also emphasizes patient safety, communication with patients and families, maintaining positive customer relations, and participating in team problem-solving to improve patient care and department operations. The technologist is expected to be self-directed in securing supplies, providing patient information to radiologists, accepting emergency calls, and maintaining inventory. They will also deliver patient care in accordance with departmental standards and may take on a leadership role in instructing and evaluating students and technologists.
