About The Position

This is an open competitive opportunity for a RADIO-TELEVISION SPECIALIST with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Marketing and Development. The position involves functioning as a video editor in the production of audio/video programming for educational, instructional, promotional, and marketing projects. The role requires assembling raw footage, working with clients to achieve their vision, digitally splicing video, improving footage quality, and adding graphics and sound. The specialist will also edit content for various platforms and styles, pre-produce and script programming, and assist with the general operations of the Audio-Video Section, including equipment maintenance and inventory.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of experience in radio or television production work; OR A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in communications or English and one (1) year of experience in radio or television production work.
  • Require possession of a valid Driver License.
  • Must provide verifiable work samples demonstrating professional work experience in radio or television production by uploading an .MP4 of your work or a link to an online portfolio via resume when submitting your application.

  • Work history, duties and responsibilities, hours worked, supervisor, and formal education fields, etc. must be filled out to determine qualifications for this position.

  • Ability to operate broadcast quality audio and video editing software, like Adobe Creative Cloud with an emphasis on Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Photoshop.
  • Ability to create content for web-based and social media platforms.
  • Must pass a background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Function as Video Editor in the production of audio/video programming for educational, instructional, promotional and marketing projects.
  • Assemble raw footage and transfer or upload to a computer.
  • Work closely with outside clients and/or FDACS directors to present a final product that matches his or her vision.
  • Digitally splice video clips and synchronize them into one rough cut file.
  • Improve and correct lighting, coloring and faulty footage.
  • Input graphics to enhance footage.
  • Input sound to enhance footage, which may include selecting music and writing voice-overs.
  • Edit content for various platforms including, but not limited to, broadcast television, social media, and digital presentations.
  • Edit a range of styles including, documentaries, PSAs, Instagram Stories, and training videos.
  • Work on a variety of assignments, including editing videos from existing scripts, creating new content with existing footage, or updating and revising existing projects.
  • Ensure final product is of high quality, using the proper specifications.
  • Complete assignments within the assigned time frames.
  • Pre-produce and script audio/video programming for educational, instructional, promotional and marketing projects.
  • Develop content with internal and external clients that meets their needs.
  • Assist in drafting scripts or generating storyboards that effectively convey information in the appropriate theme or tone and in the appropriate running time, and use correct grammar, punctuation, spelling and format.
  • Assist with the general operations of the Audio-Video Section pertaining to equipment and services.
  • Maintain library of field footage.
  • Maintain archive of completed audio/video programming.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Produce duplicates of audio/video programming.
  • Make recommendations on the purchase of audio/video equipment and software.
  • Coordinate with administrative personnel to prepare requisitions for purchase, contracts and field purchase orders.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
