About The Position

This is a position specific recruitment for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, Natural Resources Police. This recruitment will be used to fill current vacancies for the position and may be used to fill future vacancies in the same classification/function. Future vacancies may also be filled via other recruitments. The resulting eligible list will be maintained for one year. This position is a lead worker level of technical radio work involving the installation, repair and maintenance of transmitters, receivers and related radio equipment in accordance with Federal Communications Commission Regulation. Workers at this level lead work of at least one subordinate radio technician and provide technical guidance and training to lower level workers. Employees receive general supervision from a Radio Technician Supervisor or a designated Administrator. Positions in this classification differ from Radio Technician Supervisor in that they are not regional supervisors. This class differs from Radio Technician III in that they function as a lead worker on a regular, recurring basis. The responsibilities of this position include the maintenance and repair of all Departmental radios and communications systems statewide. The systems are used for law enforcement, wildlife management, public safety, fire suppression, search and rescue, and land management purposes. They will install, maintain and repair electronic equipment in both vehicles and vessels. This position is assigned a vehicle and is subject to callouts after hours. Employees in this classification are expected to perform the full range of duties and responsibilities under general supervision. Employees in this class are supervised by a higher level Radio Technician or other supervisor within the unit. They do not supervisor other employees.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
One year of experience in the repair of electronic communications equipment.
Possession of a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

Responsibilities
