About The Position

As Radio Repair Technician, you will be key member of the organization and play an important role in Client Satisfaction. Your passion for providing exceptional service contributes to our world-class client satisfaction. You will be the first line of response to our diverse customer base, communicating in an open, helpful, and engaging manner to find each customer's unique solution. In this role, you will diagnose and repair a wide range of two-way radio equipment including portables, mobiles, and base stations across major brands (Motorola, Kenwood, Hytera, Harris, and others), performing repairs down to the component level on RF and digital circuit boards.

Requirements

  • Troubleshoot and Repair to component level of Radio Frequency (RF) circuit boards
  • Understand electronic circuits, read sophisticated schematic diagrams, and layout to trace components to perform troubleshooting and repair.
  • Use test and measurement equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators and volt meters.
  • Perform both surface mount and thru-hole soldering techniques.
  • Troubleshoot RF technologies related to two-way radio
  • Perform circuit board-level diagnosis and repair, including identification and replacement of failed ICs, transistors, capacitors, inductors, crystals, and other discrete components.
  • Rework and replace surface-mount components including fine-pitch ICs, BGAs, QFNs, and 0201/0402 passives using hot-air rework stations and precision soldering irons.
  • Align and calibrate repaired radios to manufacturer specifications using RF test equipment, including verification of frequency accuracy, deviation, sensitivity, and transmit power output.
  • Utilize manufacturer service software and programming tools (e.g., Motorola CPS/RSS, Kenwood KPG, Hytera firmware tools) to program radios, flash firmware, and complete alignment procedures.
  • Maintain accurate repair records documenting fault descriptions, parts used, labor time, and alignment data in the company's service management system.
  • Follow ESD (electrostatic discharge) best practices and safe handling procedures for sensitive RF and digital assemblies at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to test and troubleshoot various types of electronic circuit boards
  • Experience in board-level and multi-layer board repair of telecommunications systems
  • Experience with Amplifier and Receive Circuits
  • Experience with Signal Generator and Spectrum Analyzer
  • Proven track record of experience in soldering with various types of IC packages.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Familiarity with P25, DMR, NXDN, or other digital radio protocols and their associated troubleshooting challenges
  • Experience performing BGA reballing or micro-soldering under magnification (stereo microscope or digital microscope)
  • Associates degree or vocational certificate in Electronics Technology, Communications Technology, or a related field; or equivalent hands-on work experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple repair tickets simultaneously and meet turnaround time commitments
  • Ability to communicate repair findings and recommendations clearly to clients in non-technical language
