The Curiosity Desk, hosted by Edgar B. Herwick III, is a one-hour multiplatform live radio show featuring the hallmark insightful, and often surprising, explorations audiences have come to expect from Herwick’s work. The show is a blend of interviews on topics related to current events, signature segments, and closer looks at everyday mysteries. GBH News is looking for a Radio Production Assistant to support the live production of The Curiosity Desk at GBH’s flagship studio in Brighton and our studio at the Boston Public Library. Reporting to the Executive Producer, BPR, the Radio PA will support the production by preparing the hosts, booking guests, researching topics, writing web content for GBHNews.org, social media and digital platforms, as well as writing stories for GBHNews.org following the show’s production. The PA also supports the production by performing pre-production and post-production tasks. The position requires strong written and audio production skills, the ability to research topics and potential guests, screen calls and monitor text messages and social media platforms, an omnivore’s interest in wide-ranging news stories, ability to work closely with a small team and within a larger newsroom and foundation, cooperatively and calmly under deadline pressure. The role requires a flexible schedule working 8:00 AM– 4:00 PM Monday – Friday, and occasional off-hours.
