Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, apply high quality radiation treatments to the patient in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. This role involves checking prescriptions, diagnoses, and patient charts, explaining procedures, preparing treatment rooms and equipment, transferring patients safely, performing imaging, and delivering prescribed radiation therapy. The Radiation Therapist must maintain constant communication with the patient, observe for any adverse reactions, adhere to radiation safety guidelines and ALARA principles, and prepare immobilization devices and perform simulations. Additionally, the role includes assisting in dosimetry, attending chart rounds, performing daily quality assurance procedures, maintaining supplies, reporting equipment faults, ensuring safe handling of hazardous materials, submitting proper documents for billing, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure. The position also involves participation in accreditations, special projects, and potentially the development of policies and procedures, while maintaining compliance with all governmental and regulatory requirements, completing mandated training, and maintaining licensure and continuing education.
