About The Position

The Radiation Therapist will treat patients with ionizing radiation in adherence to all regulatory guidelines. This role involves monitoring equipment parameters, documenting malfunctions, and understanding safety procedures. The therapist will maintain accurate medical records and treatment schedules, recognize and report patient concerns, and document treatments in the radiation oncology EMR. Responsibilities include communicating instructions to patients and families, assisting with the clinical instruction of Radiation Therapy Students, and demonstrating the ability to adapt to procedures with slight variations across different sites. The position requires providing coverage at multiple LCI Radiation Oncology sites, potentially covering up to two sites in the same day.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA approved school of Therapeutic Radiology or international equivalent.
  • ARRT registered or registry eligible, must pass registry in the first 90 days of employment.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Must be able to lift and support 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment and supplies.
  • Must speak and understand English.
  • Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch.
  • Finger dexterity.
  • Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and make decisions to changes on the unit.

Responsibilities

  • Treats patients with ionizing radiation in adherence to all regulatory guidelines.
  • Monitors all equipment parameters, documents equipment malfunctions and understands all emergency and safety procedures of all equipment.
  • Maintains accurate medical records and treatment schedules.
  • Recognizes and reports patient concerns and physical problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Documents treatments and other associated details in the radiation oncology EMR.
  • Communicates instructions and procedures to patients and their families.
  • Assists with the clinical instruction of Radiation Therapy Students.
  • Demonstrates the ability to rapidly grasp procedures and processes that may have slight variation from site to site.
  • Provides radiation therapist coverage at LCI Radiation Oncology sites on the Advocate hospital campuses of Morehead, NorthEast, Cleveland, Stanly, Union, University, Pineville, as well as Lancaster Radiation Therapy and Rock Hill Radiation Therapy if needed.
  • Must be able to cover up to two sites periodically in the same day.
